Play Safe at Brentwood

Untitled

March 2021

The courts are open. The clubhouse is closed.

Anyone attending a venue (including players, coaches, staff and any other visitors), should undergo a pre-attendance self-assessment for any COVID19 symptoms using the information on the NHS website before leaving home.

We now have a NHS Covid-19 QR code to support NHS Test & Trace. These are positioned at the clubhouse entrance and on the gate to each court as an A4 poster.

New Lockdown Brentwood Rules

Players must remain in their playing bubble while at the club.

We encourage players not to congregate on or around the court before and after play and make sure social interaction is in line with social contact restrictions. Please limit your interactions with anyone outside of the group you are attending the venue with (e.g. players on another court or in a different coaching group), and you should continue to maintain social distancing from those that you do not live with or are in a support bubble with.

  • Informal social play - Group size is limited to a maximum of six people (Rule of 6) or two households by law

    • This means you can play tennis providing people only meet up with no more than five other people from different households and observe social distancing guidelines

    • A group made up of two households can include more than six people, but only where all members of the group are from the same two households (or support/childcare bubbles, where eligible)

  • The government has confirmed that organised activity for larger groups, including coached sessions, club nights/socials and competitions is permitted as an exception to the Rule of 6. You will be advised of the specific rules by the venue/coach when attending these events or sessions. Places will need to be pre booked

  • Singles - Members are able to play singles tennis with another player outside of their household provided all guidelines are strictly followed

  • Doubles - Play is permitted with people from outside of your household, meaning four people from different households can meet and play - following all social distancing rules

  • Disability Tennis - Ben Howarth, our Head Coach, leads our Ability Tennis sessions. Our guidelines are informed by LTA Open Court - Disability Tennis guidance, Activity Alliance and the Sport England guidelines, assisting us with the reopening of activity in an accessible way. Social distancing should be maintained where possible. All social play must follow the Rule of 6 or two households

  • Weekend Family Members (play from Friday 4pm - Sunday 1pm) - This membership does not entitle any of the named adults to play with other adults alone (singles or doubles). Play is as a family only. You are allowed to meet and play with another family group remembering to follow all social distancing guidelines

  • Coaching - please contact Ben Howarth for individual & group coaching guidelines

Court Bookings

Players MUST book their court via the ClubSpark website or on the ClubSpark Booker App

If you have not booked a court online before, you must register with ClubSpark and create a password the first time you book.

  • The member who books the court must keep a note of who played for 21 days - this is to adhere to the NHS Test & Trace requirements

  • If you are happy playing on adjacent courts please book these. This will allow those who need more distance to be able to book the single courts (1 & 2)

  • Members can book slots of 30 minutes up to a maximum of 90mins

  • One booking per session - Please do not book 90 minutes and your friend book the next 90mins

  • Only 3 bookings per week per member

  • Please do not book your session only leaving a 30min slot between the previous or next booking - this is a waste of unbookable playing time

  • Nobody will be allowed to play without a booking - under any circumstances

  • If a booking on clubspark has no name against it - it will be cancelled

Court Guidelines

A4 sheets are displayed around the club as a reminder of some of the rules but please familiarise yourself with the LTA Guidance for Tennis Players. All LTA guidelines for safe play/court etiquette must be followed.

  • All Public Health guidelines on hygiene must be adhered to Coronavirus (COVID-19): guidance

  • Bring your own sanitiser. Use alcohol gel/wipes after touching any padlocks, court gates, fences, net winders, benches, etc, and avoid doing so where possible

  • Maintain social distancing at all times. Staying alert and safe

  • Avoid chasing the ball down to another court if other players are using it

  • Courts must be vacated immediately at the end of your session. This will ensure we don't have an overlap with people waiting around or create unsafe spaces for players and passing pedestrians

  • Please be considerate to other club members and members of public when entering and leaving the court

  • A broom will be left on court 1, 2, 3&4. Please sweep up if there are leaves etc on court. Remember to sanitise your hands

  • Nets will be checked regularly & ready for play to minimise the need to touch equipment

  • No bikes, skateboards, scooters, buggies or pets are allowed on court

  • No pets in the clubhouse

  • Please wear the appropriate non-marking footwear

  • Come dressed to play as the changing rooms are not in use

  • Lock the courts after you have finished your session thank you

Where supervision takes place, this is subject to legal gathering limits (rule of 6 outdoors) and attendees should maintain social distancing from people not in their household or bubble at all times.

Travel

  • Travel to take part in recreational tennis activity is permitted, but you should minimise travel wherever possible
